It's Time For A Change
The Mesopotamians had to change the environment to suit their needs. They created many inventions to accomplish this task.
IRRIGATION
One of the Mesopotamians’ biggest accomplishments was developing an irrigation system. This system brought water to the village crops, so they could stay hydrated and healthy. The irrigation system consisted of levees, gates, pipes, and dams. This invention controlled the water flow to the village. If one’s village was not close to a river, one had to rely on neighboring villages to make sure clean water was flowing to the crops.

ARTIFICIAL POND/LAKE
Artificial ponds were man-made ponds that helped the villages control flooding. In essence, they were giant ditches that filled up with excess water. They would build these ponds in places that received a lot of water.

PLOW AND THE FUNNEL
Ox-drawn plows helped the farmers plant seeds. It worked by breaking up the top soil to more easily place and cover seeds. Even though the plow made it easier to plant seeds, it was still a tedious job. To further expedite the process, the Mesopotamians attached a funnel to the plow. The seeds would then drop automatically in the hole. This made farming even more effortless.
