Mesopotamian Trading
It’s 3,000 B.C.E, in the time of the Ancient Mesopotamian, and the idea of trading to other city-states is still new. People traded natural resources like valuable stones and gems for necessities such as food and water or favors from other city-states. They used domesticated animals such as donkeys to carry light items and traveled in caravans but if it was bigger and bulkier, they used boats.

Ways of Transportation
The idea of using coins or currency for goods hadn’t yet hit the Mesopotamians. When they first began to develop, they used silver rings to barter for goods. As time went on, they developed tokens that represented each good and gave it in exchange for the particular good. Finally, a little before 2500 B.C.E., shekels were invented which are like coins. They had four types of shekels. The gold, silver, brass, and iron. Originally, the medium of weight was in barley.

What was Traded

They traded these things for luxuries such as gold, silver, and bronze. They used it for their personal gain and to help their city-state develop
